The Journal could have said “Nice thesis kid, but your business is going nowhere. The Internet will replace the need for human agents.” Had they responded this way, I probably wouldn’t have agreed but they would have been RIGHT! Instead, GATE became the basis of a full-page article. The Journal wasn’t alone. Neither Les Charm or Harvard Professor Amar Bhide identified the Internet as a competitive threat.
